It’s finally December which means Advent has begun, Christmas is a few weeks away and so is a new year. December should prove to be a
wonderful month.
On the youth front, a few of us went to see Mark Schultz and Point of Grace with some other youth and parents from Community Congregational
Church, UCC in Villa Park (also known as my other church). It was a wonderful evening full of music and worship. Sunday School is going well
too. Danny Wayeshe is underway with Confirmation. Last month we discussed our faith stories. Please show him your support as he begins on his
Confirmation journey.
Finally, on a more personal note - About two years ago I decided to put ordination on hold as I reconsidered my call to ministry. I have always felt
called to Youth Ministry and Christian Education so I was not sure that ordination was for me. Since I began working at Community
Congregational Church, UCC in Villa Park, I have been a licensed minister, meaning I have all the same rights and privileges as an ordained pastor,
such as Dr. Bob and Pastor David. This past summer I began hearing my call again to ordained ministry and have decided to go for it once again. I
still need to meet with the Fox Valley Association and turn in my paper once again, but I am back on track with ordination. I still plan to pursue
Youth Ministry and Christian Education as I do feel that is where God is calling me. I appreciate all the support and prayers you all have given me
over the years and I thank you for being patient with me as I figured where God’s call was for me.
Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas and New Year!
Peace,
Amanda McEvilly
Youth Director
